St Peter School Philosophy

The primary goal of St. Peter School is to share with parents and parish, the education of children in all important areas – moral, academic, and physical – guiding the development of unique, joyous, caring, self-motivated Christians, well on their way to knowing the reason for their existence, and satisfactorily equipped and motivated to do their part to create a better world.

We believe that modeling is the highest form of character training: therefore, it is our responsibility to treat each other and each child with respect. As members of this Catholic faith community, Christian concepts can be more effectively taught by nurturing Christ-like values and attitudes, and living our faith. For this reason, we see the school as a vital part of the parish community.

We believe that parents are the primary educators in rearing their children. We believe that a Christian community is the educational system of choice to supplement the rearing of Christian children and that the allied energies of parents, teachers, and clergy, united in their efforts can lead our youth to be responsible human beings determined to create a better world.

We believe that education is a tool, not a goal in itself. Well-educated people know where they came from, why they are here, what they want to accomplish, where they are going and ways to interact with other human beings. Through this interaction, they can adjust to the problems of life, which may, temporarily, prevent them from achieving their goals.

We believe that the moral and spiritual development of the child can and must be integrated within the academic atmosphere; that the educated person of the next generation must be the one with real values. A challenging academic atmosphere will call forth the best of each child’s ability and a loving atmosphere will foster individual self-esteem and ultimately, self-growth.
